Castaway Music Theatre has been participant-led from the beginning in 2003 – a small group who wanted to dance, act and sing.

Through strong support from the local community, initially as audiences for musical shows, we’ve grown to running a year round programme, six days a week.

Castaway Youth Theatre began in 2008 in response to demand from young people, disabled and not, followed soon after by Sloop Young Musicians who also perform regularly.  We have 40+ active volunteers, the quality and commitment of whose work was recognised in 2012 by a Queen’s Award for Volunteer Service (MBE for Voluntary Groups).

Since moving into our own premises in 2014, we now also run public arts events with a team including trained volunteers with disabilities. (Finalists in 2017 Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards, ‘Passion for Arts and Culture’.)
